Final Score: Brigham Young 38  Oregon 8

Brigham Young vs. Oregon

BYU's defense definitely came to play in this one.  The Ducks could never get into a decent rhythm at all which can be attributed to both the Cougar defense and the inability of Mike Belotti to decide who should be his quarterback.  The tandem quarterback has been tried and has even seen some success under Urban Meyer at Florida this season.  That being said, in order for it to work, there has to be some similarity in the ability of your quarterbacks.  When Brady Leaf was in the game, there was no need for BYU to worry about him scrambling and they knew it.  Dennis Dixon, while he did lead the team in rushing for the night with 51 yards, he couldn't get his timing down on the throwing game.  The Mountain West is starting to show that it has some game out there beating up on a PAC 10 opponent with the 38 points and 548 yards of total offense of which 375 came courtesy of John Beck's passing.  All in all, this has to end a very disappointing season for Oregon.  Their biggest win of the year was the controversial "onsides replay game" against Oklahoma and losing their last four games.  BYU, on the other hand, finishes out strong with the win to end with a Mountain West championship and a record of 11-2 winning their last nine games.
